In recent years car advertisements have gotten a lot more interesting. They're pulling out inspiring and thoughtful bits of culture as touchstones, in an attempt to communicate what the cars stand for, rather than just what they are.
The BMW i8, being a $135,925 hybrid with an I3 motor, is going to need some good marketing. It need marketing that says with this car, you're going to have your cake (94 mpg) and eat it too (4.5 seconds to 60 mph). This ad, using a recording of science fiction writer, inventor, and undersea explorer Arthus C. Clarke, accomplished just that.
What do you think?
