Smith's final week of 2013 should have been a good one. He helped the Jets beat the Dolphins last Sunday to end the 2013-14 NFL season on a high note and looked good on the field. But Jets general manager John Idzik came out early last week and said that Smith might not be the starting quarterback for the Jets next season. He also made it sound like Mark Sanchez might still be an option for the Jets at QB next season. And right after that happened, an angry groupie called Smith out on BallerAlert.com and claimed that Smith carried on a sexual relationship with her despite having a girlfriend. What a way for him to ring in the new year!

"Black Monday" was, well, black. As expected, a handful of coaches lost their jobs. There's a  good chance that they'll all catch on somewhere else in the NFL or college ranks sooner than later. But still, roughly 17 percent of the head coaches in the NFL got fired in a 24-hour span this week. "Black" doesn't even really begin to describe it.

About three years ago, Parker took a photo with a French comedian, actor, and political activist named Dieudonné M'bala M'bala. And in the photo, which surfaced this week, both Dieudonné and Parker are shown using a gesture called a quenelle. A quenelle—for those of you who aren't familiar with it—is a controversial anti-Semitic gesture. So, of course, Parker caught hell for making the gesture in the photo. He did issue an apology for it—"I thought it was part of a comedy act," he said, "and did not know that it could be in any way offensive or harmful"—but because many people weren't familiar with the gesture prior to him using it, there's a good chance that he's going to be associated with it from now on.

Last Monday morning, just a few hours after Michael Vick and the Eagles qualified for the NFL playoffs with a win over the Cowboys, Vick's brother Marcus was pulled over in Georgia. And when police approached his vehicle, they smelled marijuana and arrested Vick for DUI. Vick was also charged with driving with expired tags and with driving without a valid driver's license on him. Marcus is no stranger to getting in trouble with the law—he got hit with a gun charge back in 2006 and with a driving on a suspended license charge in 2012—but this one couldn't have come at a worse time for him and his big brother.

To be fair to Orton, he played really, really well in relief of Tony Romo last Sunday night when the Cowboys played the Eagles with the NFC East crown on the line. Cowboys fans couldn't have asked for much more. But at the end of the game, he pulled a Romo and threw a costly interception that essentially ended the game and gave the win to the Eagles. And in doing so, he went from hero to zero in an instant.

During a game against Southern University, Champion Baptist managed to score just 12 points—12 points!—in the entire contest. They trailed 44-0 before they scored their first point. They shot just 6.8 percent from the field. And they basically became the laughingstock of college basketball. Twelve points, fellas? Something tells us you probably shouldn't schedule Southern again next season.

For the first time in his 15-year NBA career, Miller didn't play in a game this week because of a "Coach's Decision." It seems head coach Brian Shaw doesn't like the way Miller has been running the Nuggets offense, so he left him on the bench for the duration of a game against the 76ers. As a result, Miller got mad at Shaw and cursed at him during the game. And that led to Miller getting suspended for the Nuggets' next two games. We imagine that there will be plenty more "DNP—COACH'S DECISION" notations listed on the Nuggets box scores next to Miller's name in the coming weeks.

There are lots and lots and lots of "experts" who make predictions about sporting events and are dead wrong. But most of them don't get called out on ESPN after doing it. That's exactly what happened to Finebaum this week, though, after he went on SportsCenter and essentially said that there was no way that Oklahoma was going to beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Less than 24 hours later—after the Sooners crushed the Crimson Tide—Finebaum was asked to explain his terrible prediction live on the air. His response? "I'm an idiot."

You guys thought you were going to the next round of the playoffs, didn't you? You had a 38-10 lead in the third quarter against the Colts. Of course you thought you were going to the next round of the playoffs! And then...well, you know what happened. Maybe next year.
