Streets might as well be war zones.
If there were one person and one person only on the road, or if everybody were as good of a driver as you are, then it might be a different story. But there isn't just one person. And not everybody is a good driver, let alone a safe driver. Every second you're on the road, the cars around you are breaking the rules, whether they aren't putting on a signal, are going above the speed limit, aren't wearing a seat belt or are texting and driving. On a day-to-day basis, it's probably the most dangerous place you'll be. Yet people still aren't careful.
So, what can you do? You make sure you have your vehicle in control and you make sure you're driving safely. As this hauntingly sad PSA from the NZ Transport Agency demonstrates, other people make mistakes all the time. By following the law, you won't always be able to prevent these situations, but even if you prevent just one, it's worth it.
