Is giving a $100,000 fine to a consistently fined NBA owner really that great of a going away present? The answer doesn't really matter to anyone else since Mark Cuban thinks that's a yes. The Mavericks owner has had to pay over $800,000 in fines during his time at the position and had to entice Stern to give him another one before he retired on Feb. 1. He did so in obvious fashion: Confronting and badmouthing officials after the Mavericks' 129-127 loss against the Clippers. Cuban was proud:
I couldnt let the commish go without a proper farewell. Its been a fun 14 years of trying to create change and donating to the donut fund !— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) January 19, 2014
Only in America can giving a $100,000 fine be considered a mission accomplished.
