Alex Rodriguez said "I shouldn't even serve one inning" while fighting the impending 211-game ban because of his connection with the Biogenesis scandal. Well, it's a new year, new strategy.

MLB's real life heel decided to look toward a compromise for his fight against the league. He's considering accepting a shorter ban. Rodriguez is probably doing this begrudgingly though; a continued fight with the possibility of winning could cost him at least $10 million. A 100-game suspension would only cost $15,425,000 ("only" in the sense that a 211-game suspension costs a lot more).

Compromise is far better than just storming out of court, but it could be too little, too late. A source familiar to the situation told ESPN it's too late to negotiate a reduced suspension. Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz's ruling to end the long battle is expected to come very soon.
