At the beginning of the 2013-14 NFL season, reports emerged indicating that Aaron Hernandezwas not going to be allowed to watch NFL games while he was locked up at the Bristol County House of Correction in North Dartmouth, Mass. And apparently, that restriction hasn't been loosened at all since that time.
Although officials at the Bristol County House of Correction have acknowledged that Hernandez has asked to watch TV during his time in the jail, they are not allowing it. So while other inmates were permitted to watch one hour of the Colts/Patriots game on Saturday night, Hernandez was kept in his cell.
"He's not allowed to watch any TV," Bristol Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgsontold the Boston Herald earlier this week.
Hernandez is moved to a 12-foot-by-8-foot "pen" three times a day for an hour at a time in order to allow him to work out. But the TV is off limits.
"It's jail," Hodgson said. "It's all about standards and sending a message."
It sounds…miserable. Which is exactly what it's supposed to be.
