Every year, some cars are axed and some new ones take their place. Often, we even don't notice, because the cars that are disappearing into the auto grave of shame are often put there for the exact reason that they suck. Other times, however, we're sad to see something we've liked going away, like the Honda S2000.

2013 had plenty of fantastic cars that have earned the right to stick around for years to come, but some cars went beyond being uninteresting or boring and into the realm of being genuinely offensive. See which with these 5 Cars We're Happy Are Set To Die in 2014.

Acura ZDX

Production Lifespan: 2009-2013

Who wants to spend $50,000 on an awkward, hunchbacked Honda Accord with one of those weird Acura beaks? Apparently, not many people, as Honda is killing off the unloved bastard child of an ugly BMW X6 and Sam the Eagle soon. Good riddance.

W204 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Production Lifespan: 2007-2013

The current generation C-Class was always kinda sad. There was nothing special about the interior, there was nothing special about the way it drove, there was nothing special about the exterior. It was just a car for people who wanted a Mercedes but didn't seem to care if they got those Mercedes driving dynamics, aesthetics, and refinement. 

We can't wait to drive the replacement.

Of course, the awesome C63 AMG is excluded from this list to the degree that we published a eulogy to its engine. 

Volkswagen Routan

Production Lifespan: 2008-2013

We all want a VW van, but we want it to be based on the the old school VW vans of the '70s, not a rebadged Chrysler Town and Country with a marketing campaign that's just sad. Normally, VW's marketing is great, but with an insurmountable task like making the Routan look good, it's like watching a puppy frantically trying to escape from a bath tub.

Suzuki Grand Vitara

Production Lifespan: 2005-2013

The Suzuki Kizashi never got the recognition it deserved. It was the car that could have saved Suzuki in America, but only seven Americans knew that it was on sale (five journalists and two Suzuki employees). 

The Grand Vitara, on the other hand, is an entirely forgettable SUV that represents why Suzuki went under in the first place. Of those seven people, exactly zero will miss the Grand Vitara, and they'll certainly all be gone by the time 2015 rolls around.

Lamborghini Gallardo

Yeah, we went there. Seriously, though, hear us out on this one.


The Gallardo looked amazing and cutting edge for most of its life, but now it is genuinely starting to look old. By today's standards, it seems weirdly boxy and simple. It looks like someone who saw an Aventador for 30 seconds tried to draw one a day later. It still looks cool, but it looks cool in a retro way. It's a classic now.


We've loved this car, but it's time to stop pretending it's cutting edge and make way for the Huracán.
