Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will not be charged with sexual assault. Although Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs could have chosen to charge Winston will sexual assault today, Meggs held a press conference a short time ago and announced that Winston is no longer being investigated for sexual assault. As a result, Winston is now free to go about his business on the football field, lead the Seminoles to the BCS National Championship Game, and win a Heisman Trophy.

Some people out there are very happy about this news:

Now they can leaveJameis Winston alone!!! NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED AGAINST HIM!!! #FSU #JameisWinston #NOCHARGESFILED #GODISGOOD
Congrats to Jameis Winston, they tried hold the young fella back... #FSU
Jameis Winston will not be charged. FSU will be national champions. #markmywords
I'm glad the justice system didn't fail Jameis Winston.
Whole thing was a farce RT @AdamSchefter: Jameis Winston not charged after sexual assault investigation.

Obviously, Meggs' decision didn't sit well with everyone, though. In fact, there are quite a few people out there who are pretty pissed off about the fact that Winston will not have to answer to sexual assault charges:

Jameis Winston is a fuckin schemer, way to cover that one up too NCAA
In a shocking turn of events, FSU QB and Heisman hopeful Jameis Winston is not being charged with sexual assault #sarcasm
So mad Jameis Winston did not get charged
I hope not charging jameis winston is the best decision... if he's getting preferential treatment as an athlete its a sad day for america
It's obvious that Jameis Winston wasn't going to be charged it's sad to say but in this country if your a famous Athlete you get a pass

And weirdly, there are a ton of people out there who don't seem to care either way but are still upset about the fact that today's press conference forced ESPN to cancel Ron Burgundy's scheduled appearance on SportsCenter:

ok so Jameis Winston isn't getting charged, so why isn't Ron burgundy doing sportscenter today anymore?
Dear @espn @SportsCenter Ron burgundy > jameis winston. Thanks
Jameis Winston won't be charged, but I would've still rather seen Ron Burgundy on SportsCenter.
Now that Jameis Winston is not being charged. Can we get Ron Burgundy back at 5pm? @espn
I'm pissed that Ron Burgundy won't be on SC instead we just get to hear about the devils threesome Jameis Winston was in..

Seriously, guys? There are way too many tweets about this right now.

Anyway...How do you feel about the situation? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Regardless, something tells us we haven't heard the last of it. Even though Winston has been cleared, he's going to have to deal with the reactions to his case—both positive and negative—for a long, long time.

UPDATE:

This tweet pertaining to the Winston case is catching a lot of heat right now, too.

And for good reason. WTF?
