Racing sims have gotten to the point that they are genuinely good training for actual racing. Good physics simulation combined with good equipment can accurately recreate most of the sensations of driving. Of course, it's difficult to be as aware of one's surroundings in a game, and the feeling from the road is very hard to simulate. These factors help actual racers drive fast, but in a video game the self preservation urge isn't there to slow drivers down.

That's why Viagame installed a sim racing rig in the passenger seat of a Renaul Megane Red Bull Edition and had one of Sweden's best sim racers go head to head against a professional racing driver.
