You heard again and again how much Ronda Rousey (8-0) and Miesha Tate (13-5) disliked each other, but both women knew it was all about the W. That's something Rousey got as she once again beat Tate with an armbar in the third round to retain her bantamweight championship.
Tate bled first, but she made it out of Rousey's submission attempts and landed some strikes of her own to become the first to make it out of the first round against the champion. She then survived a fully extended armbar, which was the same move Rousey finished all of her other opponents (including Tate) with.
But Rousey's judo was just too strong. She manhandled Tate with takedowns. Tate's main victory was surviving really, and that's probably not the only thing she came to accomplish.
Rousey turned down Tate's handshake afterward but maintained she still respected her challenger.
