Mike D'Antoni Says Something That's Not Going to Sit Well With a Lot of Lakers Fans

Frustration is growing in Los Angeles.

If you're a Los Angeles Lakers fan, you might want to stay far, far, far away from the TV when the Lakers host the Miami Heat today. Because even though the game is being played at the Staples Center, the Heat are likely going to run all over the Lakers and ruin your Christmas if you're a fan of the Lake Show. The Lakers have sustained a number of injuries lately—including one to Kobe Bryant—and they're simply not in a position to compete with the Heat.

That's not the only thing Lakers fans should be upset about today, though. In addition to the impending loss to the Heat, Lakers fans should also be a little bent out of shape about some comments that Los Angeles head coach Mike D'Antoni made this week about the team's fans. Specifically, he called out those fans who are frustrated with what's going on with the Lakers—and told them to find a new team if they can't handle some losses this season.

"We're fighting with a bunch of good guys that played well before, and they'll play well again," he said. "If [the fans] are discouraged, then, you know, find another team to root for. I'm all right. We're not going to give up. Are you kidding me? Discouraged? That's not even fair to these guys."

True. The Lakers do deserve to have their fans cut them some slack this season, because of all the injuries that have occurred. But D'Antoni needs to be careful here. The Lakers' season is on the brink of falling apart and the absolute last thing he needs to do is frustrate the fans even more than they already are.

If you're a Lakers fan, will you be tuning into the team's Christmas Day game today? If so, good luck. You're gonna need it.
