In this episode of Driven, a new series that allows some of our favorite people to give guided tours of the cities they call home, we get the inside scoop on Dallas courtesy of Major League Soccer star Heath Pearce.

Dallas has a reputation in the Lone Star State as the lap of luxury, so we asked Heath to tell us how he would spend $1,000 in a single day in the Big D. He gladly accepted the challenge. After a nice lunch at The Porch, Heath took us to the North Park Mall for a fine-tailored suit, and then to the iPic movie theater, a spot that provides its guests pillows and blankets so they can watch a movie “like a king.”

Soccer may be “the beautiful game,” but its strain on the body is intense nonetheless. Pearce, one of the most acclaimed defensive players in MLS, knows this all too well. After playing for two years with a bad hip, he finally elected for season ending surgery earlier this season. His time in Dallas is now devoted primarily to rehab at the Michael Johnson Performance Center—and his drive comes from his passion to regain peak physical performance.
