There Was a Massive Pile-Up on the Bronx River Parkway

Needless to say, the weather is being blamed.

At least 25 cars crashed into one another last night on the Bronx River Parkway and manged to literally pile-up on one another. County Police Lt. Tom Murphy described it as looking like "a war zone."

While we're saddened to say that 45 people were injured, we are at least relieved by the fact that no fatalities have been reported as a result of the accident. Yonkers police used its Medical Evacuation Transportation Unit (METU), a large vehicle designed to stabalize and transport groups of people to a hospital, to rescue 21 injured motorists.

We're hoping everybody has a speedy and throuough recovery, and that everybody remembers that stopping distances can be much, much longer in cold weather, even if you can't see any snow.
