The NFL is a brutal business if you're a head coach. One day, you're the hottest young coaching prospect in the country. The next, you're being asked to pack up your office and GTFOH by your team's owner. The NFL is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately? kind of league. And if you aren't able to lead your team to the NFL Playoffs as a head coach, there's a good chance you're going to lose your job. Just ask Rob Chudzinski, who was fired by the Cleveland Browns last night after just one season with the team.

Unfortunately, a handful of other NFL head coaches are probably going to find out just how brutal the NFL can be as well at some point today. That's because today is "Black Monday," the first day of the offseason for all of the NFL teams out there that missed the playoffs this year. And "Black Monday" is typically the day that features NFL teams deciding whether or not their head coaches are going to return to coach their teams next season. So at the end of today, there are going to be a bunch of head coaches that are out of a job.

How many head coaches? That's still TBD. But throughout "Black Monday," we will keep count for you and update this post every time that another NFL head coach gets canned (for the record, we are not including Chudzinski in our official count, since he didn't technically get canned on "Black Monday," just like we're not counting Gary Kubiak who got fired by the Texans a few weeks ago). So bookmark this post and check back regularly. Because if this year's "Black Monday" is as crazy as last year's "Black Monday," then NFL head coaches are in for a looooooong day.
