Jason Kidd suffered a tough penalty, when he was fined $50,000 by the NBA for intentionally spilling a drink on the floor to cause a stoppage of play. Ever since the incident occurred, many people have been trying to look into the past of coaches doing similar things to create time for a team huddle.

Former Miami Heat coach Kevin Loughery said that he used the drink spill gimmick several times in his 20 years as an NBA and ABA head coach with the last incident coming in the '94 playoffs. Here's how Loughery explains it in a conversation with the Daily News:

Should Kidd have received such a harsh fine? It's definitely something that could be debated with coaches trying to draw competitive edges and the state of the game always in question. Either way the facts are that Kidd was fined and his team ended up losing. That's a huge double whammy.
