As everybody knew (and had seen) before the official press launch at the L.A. Auto Show today, Subaru unveiled a redesigned WRX and a brand new Legacy Concept. Some see this as a bit of a power move for Subbie, but in a way, it kind of worked to a disadvantage, simply because one of the cars was so much more attractive than the other.

Celebrating 25 years of Legacy, the new Concept was easily the more handsome of the two and drew more attention. The car has a very sturdy look to it. It looks firm, but we're told that it's a bit bloated to accentuate certain curvatures. The enormous hex grille, the layered, piercing headlamps, the built in spoilerish rear lid all looks fantastic, but there's still one thought that's on everybody's mind. With the WRX sitting right next to it, they're forced to be skeptical, after seeing what the original WRX Concept was widdled down to. Everybody's afraid the exact same thing is going to happen

Subaru told us that the car is relatively close to production level, but that is obviously a super ambiguous statement that could lead to fantastic or depressing results. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
