Everyone loves a good Citi Bike ride every now and then. Leonardo DiCaprio, J.R. Smith, and thousands of New Yorkers and tourists have enjoyed riding the blue pony around the city, but unfortunately Queens residents won't be able to get in on the fun for at least 18 months due to a lack of funding and damage to bikes and equipment caused by Superstorm Sandy. According the WNYC, Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Gastel said at a Queens Community Board 1 that "NYC Bike share has sought federal and other funds that would add 1,000 bikes and 90 additional stations to Long Island City, Bedford-Stuyvesant and elsewhere," but he wouldn't comment on Citibanks's previous commitment to providing funding for 7,000 bikes and 420 docking stations when the program launched six months ago.
