An amazing save happens every now and then, but a save for which there's almost no explanation for? That's a little rarer. Did Barys Astana's Ari Ahonen smell the puck or something? The former New Jersey Devil had most of his vision impaired by his teammate's backside. But in a combination of goalie intuition and luck, Ahonen was able to reach over and catch the puck for what's arguably the save of the year.
The only thing more outrageous than the save is that Barys Astana still losing the game 3-0. Ahonen probably would've rather had a win than just a highlight.
