A YouTube video did him in.

The unidentified police officer that you see in the clip above has a real need for speed. And unfortunately, that need for speed caused him to lose his job with the quickness earlier this week after the clip hit YouTube.

In the video, the Montgomery, Ala. cop is seen pulling up to a red light next to a biker named Lawrence Lee Spillers who is using a GoPro camera to record himself riding. Spillers and the cop exchange pleasantries for a few moments and then Spillers jokingly asks the cop, "Wanna race?" Much to his surprise, the cop agrees to a race after telling Spillers that he's "got turbo" on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. And then, he takes off once the light turns green with Spillers giving chase. They eventually stop at another red light down the road but race again once the light there turns green. This all lasts for about five minutes. Oh, and while the two men are racing, the cop is actually on duty.

Obviously, this video did not sit well with the cop's superiors. He handed in his badge and resigned from the force a short time after it hit the Web. And to add insult to injury, he may be getting hit with drag racing charges as a result of the YouTube clip.

"There may be a traffic violation charge brought against this former officer for drag racing," the former officer's police chief said earlier this week, "and the elements are there—one just has to look at the video and see for themselves."

Check the video out for yourself. What in the world was this cop thinking?
