Hey, NFL cornerbacks, do not talk bad about Steve Smith's wife if you line up across from him on Sunday afternoon.
Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins learned that lesson the hard way yesterday when he took on the task of trying to guard Smith during the Rams/Panthers game. He apparently tried to do it by talking trash about Smith's wife in an effort to throw Smith off his game. It didn't work, though, as Smith scored a big touchdown at the end of the third quarter and then proceeded to act a fool while pointing at Jenkins. After the Panthers beat the Rams, Smith explained why he did it.
"What I don't like is a young guy [who] comes in, obviously his first time ever using the Internet and Google," Smith said, "and he Googles information about me, talks about my wife and stuff like that. That's kind of some of the bullshit I just don't play with."
Clearly. Smith also said that, if he ever sees Jenkins away from the football field, he won't hesitate to throw down with him.
"If I see him in the streets," he said, "I'm going to bust him in his fucking mouth."
Yikes.
To his credit, Jenkins didn't back down from the challenge when he got wind of the things Smith had said about him:
