As the ball trickled further and further away from the goal, Rene Steer of St Neots Town had only one thing on his mind. “I remember seeing the ball and I just thought: ‘Why not?’,” said Steer. So, he reared back, sending a screamer off the crossbar and into the back of the net from 40 yards away. It was a thing of beauty, but the way that the youngster recalls it, “I can’t remember the flight or how I hit it..,I just remember it hitting the cross bar and then I got ambushed.” Well, then, trust us. It was incredible.
