Note to self: If you're going to steal $225,000 from an NFL player, don't do it by wiring the money into your own bank account!

A parking lot attendant from Philadelphia didn't follow that advice a few years ago. And right now, he's facing time in jail because he was caught stealing more than $225,000 from Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans back in 2009 and 2010. According to U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger, Robert Von Ryan used to work at the Eagles' team hotel in Philly and managed to steal the money from Herremans by breaking into Herremans' car and stealing some documents that had his bank information on it. He then used that info to wire money from Herremans' account into his own account. But eventually, Herremans noticed that the money was missing and went to the police. And from there, all they needed to do was connect the dots in order to find out who had taken Herremans' money.

Fortunately, Herremans has been able to get all of his money back. But Von Ryan hasn't been quite as lucky. He was just charged with bank fraud and is likely looking at a few years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million. He deserves it for thinking that he could pull this crime off without anyone noticing.
