Tonight was the first night of the 2013-14 NHL season. So that should be cause for celebration, right? Right. Except that during one of the opening night games, we witnessed one of the scariest injuries that we've seen out on the ice in recent memory.

On two different occasions during the Toronto Maple Leafs/Montreal Canadiens game tonight, Leafs right wing Colton Orr and Habs right wing George Parros got into a fight. And during the second one, Orr fell down onto the ice and pulled Parros down with him. Parros was unable to get his hands down to brace himself for the fall, though, and fell directly onto his face and went unconscious immediately. He had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher and rushed to a local hospital. There's been no word as to what his exact injury is, but his fall definitely did not look good.

We hope and pray that Parros is okay. This is obviously not what we wanted to see on the first night of NHL hockey.

UPDATE:

It's now being reported that Parros suffered a concussion as a result of his fall.
