Earlier this summer, Giants cornerback Prince Amukamarapopped the question to his girlfriendPilar Davis during a Jabbawockeez show in Las Vegas. And while his proposal was pretty sweet, we have to admit that we wondered what the big rush to get married was all about. After all, Amukamara had just turned 24 and he hasn't even gotten his first big payday in the NFL yet. So we wondered why he was already popping the question. Now, we have our answer.
During a recent interview with Muscle & Fitness, Amukamara revealed that, as a Catholic, he has stayed away from things like drinking and drugs during his life. And he takes his religious approach to life all the way, as he also readily admitted to being a virgin.
"I am a virgin," he revealed. "I'm not ashamed to say that."
That's not exactly news to his teammates, though. Apparently, they not only know about Amukamara being a virgin, but they also joke with him about it.
"Yeah, some people call me the black Tim Tebow," he said.
Ha. Good one, guys. But seriously, good for Amukamara. As he also mentioned in the interview, his decision to shy away from drinking and other social vices keeps him out of the newspapers for making mistakes away from the football field. If only there were a few more NFL players out there who acted more like him…
