Ole Miss Player Takes a Penalty Flag to the Eye (GIF)

He had to sit out a couple of plays because of it.

If you're one of the football fans who constantly thinks, "These refs are throwing these flags like they don't care," you had a huge case in point tonight. No. 21 Ole Miss already had a lot going against them as they faced No. 1 Alabama at home, but the Rebels certainly didn't think the refs were going to be against them like this.

Ole Miss defensive end C.J. Johnson already had a lot to look out for (cough: T.J. Yeldon) but a penalty flag should not have been one of them.  He got hit in the eye with one and was taking out a few plays because of it.

Fortunately, the situtation wasn't as bad as it could've been. NFL offensive lineman Orlando Brown was nearly blinded by one in 1999, according to SB Nation, prompting him to sue the NFL for $25 million.
