Remember when M.I.A.stuck up her middle finger during her performance with Madonna and Nicki Minaj at the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show? That feels like forever ago, doesn't it? And yet, the NFL still remembers it very well. A little bit too well.

So right now, the league is attempting to sue M.I.A. for $1.5 million and force her to issue a public apology for what she did. They actually filed their lawsuit against her all the way back in March 2012. But it's still yet to be resolved. So M.I.A. and her lawyer Howard King just went public with the lawsuit in an effort to try and make it go away.

"She is going to go public with an explanation of how ridiculous it was for the NFL and its fans to devote such furor to this incident, while ignoring the genocide occurring in her home country and several other countries, topics she frequently speaks to," King told The Hollywood Reporter recently before ripping the NFL a new one. "Of course, the NFL's claimed reputation for wholesomeness is hilarious…in light of the weekly felonies committed by its stars, the bounties placed by coaches on opposing players, the homophobic and racist comments uttered by its players, the complete disregard for the health of players and the premature deaths that have resulted from same, and the raping of public entities ready to sacrifice public funds to attract teams."

Whoa. So yeah, that middle finger that M.I.A. put up? You may have long forgotten about it. But it's still fresh in the minds of the folks in the NFL office, and they're waging a war against M.I.A. over it. And after hearing what M.I.A.'s lawyer had to say about it, it's going to get ugly.
