Early Monday morning, Colts rookie John Boyett attempted to get into a bar in downtown Indianapolis, but was turned away when the bouncer deemed him too intoxicated. Soon after, Boyett became belligerent, cursing at people in the establishment and outside on the street. When a police officer finally showed up, Boyett was nowhere to be found, but the 23-year-old returned and confronted the officer who attempted to arrest him. That's when things got crazy.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Boyett repeatedly told officers, "You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player," as well as “I am going to come back and break your jaw.” But when his protests and threats didn't work, Boyett resisted arrest, throwing what is being described as "a stiff arm" and fleeing the scene. Eventually, it took four officers to subdue the 5'10", 203-pound rookie safety. He was given preliminary charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
As of right now, Boyett is on the reserve/non-football injury list, which means he will miss, at least, the first six games of the season. But, after this incident, he may never be able to step onto the field as a member of the Colts.
