VW is Going to Let Ducati Have Its Way With the XL1 Eco-Car

This is even cooler than the sport version of this car that we imagined.

We'd heard rumors that Volkswagen was going to make a sport version of the ultra-lightweight, ultra-low-drag XL1 eco car, but we had no idea it would be this cool. Rather than going the predictable route and dropping a 2.0L TFSI engine in there, the company is simply giving the car to new subsidiary Ducati and saying "go nuts."

Ducati is going to be dropping a 1,198-cc, 190 hp V-twin in the engine bay, which should be plenty of power for some serious acceleration. We're excited.
