American Teen Victoria Duval Stuns Sam Stosur in First Round of U.S. Open, Gains Lil Wayne's Approval

A new hope for American tennis?

With the retirement of Andy Roddick and the advancing age of stars Venus and Serena Williams, American tennis fans have been long in search of the heir apparents to the throne once inhabited by the likes of Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, and Lindsay Davenport. On the men's side, we're still trying to figure out who's got next, with Ryan Harrison making yet another first-round exit in a Grand Slam yesterday, while other touted prospects like Donald Young have failed to make good on their hype.

But on the women's end, we were given reason to keep our hopes up today when the 17 year old American Victoria Duval took down former U.S. Open champion, Sam Stosur, in three sets. It was an upset, to say the least, especially when you consider the fact that Duval is currently ranked 296th in the world. Stosur was seeded in the no. 11 slot.

The best part of the victory, though? Rapper, and noted tennis fan, Lil Wayne took to Twitter to hand out some well-deserved kudos to the rising American teenager. Time to cue up Dedication 2, everyone.

Nice win Victoria Duval! Keep it up

Props to Duval, and remember to keep an eye out for her as the week progresses. Check out the video above for match highlights.
