A Man Decorates His Minivan to Get People to Stop Stealing It

His plan is working.

Don Harbin has one of the flashiest rides that we've ever seen. But he won't have to worry about anyone stealing it anytime soon.

Harbin—a Flint, Mich. resident who has had his 1996 Oldsmobile Silhouette stolen on two different occasions over the course of the last few years—wanted to find a way to stop thieves from taking his car. So recently, he came up with a brilliant plan. It didn't involve installing a car alarm or locking his car up at night, though. Instead, it involved him going to a thrift store and buying a bunch of ridiculous decorations for the car. From toy ponies and carousel horses to magnetic letters and stickers, his car is now covered with them. And wouldn't you know? It's prevented people from wanting to steal his ride.

"I figured, the last thing anyone wants is to steal something so visible," he said recently. "I got a little carried away. I had a little fun with it…So far, it's been working."

And we wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon. As long as Harbin's minivan is covered with all that crap, we don't think anyone in their right mind will want to steal it.
