At the end of August, 11-year-old Joshua Pynadath and his family will move to Spain. And no, it's not for some family trip. Instead, the Los Altos Hills, Calif. native is headed to the Real Madrid youth academy, which Pynadath agreed to join earlier this summer.
A year ago, Pynadath caught the eye of some Real Madrid scouts after they saw him play for his local team. The club eventually reached out to the kid and asked him to have a trial with their youth team. He agreed and while in Spain, little man also tried out for Barcelona. Smart move. Real Madrid was impressed, so they invited him out to another trial and soon after, they wanted to make him a member of the youth team.
“I was blown away when I got the official news from Real Madrid,” Pynadath told the Los Altos Town Crier. “They told me that I was the first American that they have ever accepted into their academy. I told them that I would set a good example.”
