After being out of the game for as long as Greg Odenhas, signing a contract with the Miami Heat is definitely a good look. It's hard to tell if Oden is going to settle into being a role player, be a scrub, or even less likely, become dominant on the frontcourt, but the signing does give us something to watch for in the next NBA season.

The signing doesn't change how flaky Oden's body may be after multiple knee surgeries, though. Plus, if Oden's hard times had taught him anything, it's to lay off taking nude pictures and be realistic. He was well-aware of the limitations of his body when he spoke about his signing to reporters:

After three years of being out. I'm just going to go and do what I can, and my body is going to do what it can. If somehow it says no, then it says no. But, for me, I'm not even worried about that. I'm just going to go play and not even think about that.

It's a shame that a once promising player has to worry about such things at the age of 25, but such is life. Even if it doesn't work out for Oden, it wouldn't hurt to try after all, right? There's more to gain than to lose here.
