How is that even possible?

How well your favorite sports team performs on the court or field doesn't necessarily determine how much money they are worth. For proof of that, look no further than the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite the fact that the 'Boys haven't won a Super Bowl since 1996—and despite the fact that they only have one playoff win since that Super Bowl victory—Jerry Jones' team is worth $2.3 billion, according to Forbes. That's right, $2.3 billion. That makes them the most valuable team in the NFL—the New England Patriots are second with a value of "just" $1.8 billion—and the fifth most valuable sports team in the world, right behind the New York Yankees.

The only difference between the Yankees and the Cowboys? The Yankees have a gang of championship banners hanging up in Yankee Stadium (27, to be exact). And the Cowboys have, well, Tony Romo.

Jerry Jones, you are a genius when it comes to business! That's the only way this valuation of the Cowboys makes any sense.
