New Study Shows That Birds Obey Posted Speed Limits

Well, technically they're usually speeding a bit.

We have a hard time obeying speed limits, but according to a recent study, a number of bird species give it a shot. That said, they use the same excuse we do when they're going a little too fast; they're just keeping up with traffic.

A researcher in Quebec noticed something odd on his drives to and from the place where he worked, however. He noticed that the birds appeared to usually travel at the same speed as traffic, and their speeds along with the speed limit. Being a scientist, he did some science and measured this over a period of time and came to the conclusion that some species of bird do keep up with the flow of traffic. The theory is that these birds have learned to do this to reduce their chances of a collision with a car.
