As NFL training camps begin to come to an end, and the cut list becomes longer and longer, certain players are forced to face the difficult reality that they may not be able to make it in the league. Today, a former top five draft in the 2009 NFL Draft had to come terms with this same, hard truth. The ex-Seahawks, Raiders and Giants linebacker, Aaron Curry, announced his retirement from the league on Twitter today at just 27 years old.

Curry certainly isn't the first high draft pick to bust out of the league, and he definitely won't be the last. Given how highly touted he was coming out of Wake Forest, though, his fall from grace is at least a little surprising. At the time, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay was quoted as saying that it was, "hard to find a flaw in [Curry's] game," while his colleague, Mel Kiper Jr., compared him to former Tennessee Titans All-Pro linebacker, Keith Bulluck.
Guess they can't be right all the time, can they? Good luck to Curry as he heads into life after football.
