We are suckers for Yenko Camaros. The cars were the result of a collaboration between car dealer Don Yenko and drag racer Dick Harrel. In the late 1960s the two set out to transform stock Camaros into bona fide road-rockets. The products of their effort were some of the sickest muscle cars ever produced.
Today, the Yenko Camaros are prized for their rarity and for their unbelievable off-the-line performance. At the upcoming Mecum Auctions in Monterey, California, one such Yenko Camaro will be coming up for sale. According to Mecum, the car sat in a barn until 2008, where it was unearthed by an enterprising Yenko collector.
The car features a L72 427/450hp engine and was recently named one of the most valuable Super Yenko Camaros in existence by Super Chevy Magazine. It will be sold at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Saturday August 16.
