The coolest part of the amazing Jaguar C-X75 concept was the engine. It was a turbocharged and supercharged Cosworth 1.6L engine that produced an astounding 500 horsepower. It was built similarly to the engine the company had been developing for F1 when it was thought that the sport would be moving to turbocharged four-cylinder powerplants, but made for the road. Like a F1 engine, it made 300 hp/liter and revved all the way up to 10,000 rpms.

Sadly, Jaguar cancelled the C-X75 project. Happily, this engine will go on to see use in a different manufacturer's road car. While it hasn't yet been announced where it will show up, we have some ideas:

  • A 10,000 rpm Lotus elise would be the coolest thing ever.
  • The BAC Mono currently manages 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with a 280 hp Cosworth engine. 500 hp would be nuts.
  • Cosworth has done special edition Subarus before; a WRX or a BRZ would be amazingly cool.
  • It would give the Lotus Evora some additional character, thus helping it stand out a bit more.
  • Ford Fiesta?
Basically, any car could be made cooler by this thing, and we just can't wait to see it in whatever car it ends up in.
