Kevin Durant Won't Leave Oklahoma City Just Because He's Represented By Jay-Z Now

Stop worrying, OKC.

When Kevin Durant becomes a free agent after the 2015-16 NBA season, there's no guarantee that he will re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder. But during a recent interview, Durant revealed that Thunder fans should not look at him signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports as a sign that he will elect to take his talents to a bigger market when he becomes a free agent. According to him, Jay-Z will have absolutely no say in where he lands in the summer of 2016.

"He has nothing to do with if I'm going to leave OKC or none of that," Durant told The Oklahoman. "I heard that before, so put that out on the table. He has nothing to do with that. He knows his lane with me. Their team knows their lane with me. And they're letting me handle the basketball part. I would tell fans not to worry about that at all."

During a subsequent interview with ESPN's Darren Rovell, Durant also explained exactly why he signed to Roc Nation Sports in the first place.

"It just seemed like a perfect move to me, something that there's no risk in doing," Durant said. "Jay-Z is someone who is a guy who is well-respected in the business area, a guy that has done so well for himself and his brand. I'm looking forward to partnering with him and learning as much as I can from him."

But again, that doesn't mean he'll be leaving the Thunder anytime soon. It just means that Durant wants to be as big of a star in the rest of the world as he is in Oklahoma City right now.
