When Dwight Howard was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last year, a lot of Lakers fans thought he was going to follow in the footsteps of guys like Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O'Neal. But now that he's headed to Houston to play for the Rockets, just about everyone in Laker Land hates him. And that includes some of those former Lakers greats listed above.

We already heard from Shaq, who was critical of Howard for leaving L.A. to join Houston. And yesterday, Abdul-Jabbar took to his Facebook page to speak out against Howard as well. He took a veiled shot at him and encouraged Lakers fans to be patient with the team as they look to recover from the loss of Howard.

"Dwight Howard is a perfect example of the fact that 'potential has a shelf life,'" Abdul-Jabbar wrote. "Lakers fans should be patient and allow Mitch [Kupchak] & company to prepare themselves to do some serious work in the free agent market."

Hmmm…Potential has a shelf life? Does that mean that Abdul-Jabbar does not think that Howard ever reached his full potential? Does it mean that he doesn't think Howard will ever reach it? We don't know for certain. Abdul-Jabbar treated his Facebook wall like Twitter and kept things short and sweet. But it certainly doesn't sound like he's happy with Howard right now. And can you blame him?
