As you may recall, reports surfaced back in late May that J.R. Smithplayed through pain in his left knee caused by a buildup of fluid during the playoffs. Of course, no one was trying to hear that after all the news surrounding his partying ways made the rounds. But apparently, those knee issues were more serious than we all thought because today, Smith had surgery to repair a damaged patella tendon and a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.

According to the Knicks' PR Twitter account, Swish's injuries "were chronic and gradually worsened," which is why the surgery was necessary. Now, J.R. will need 12-16 weeks to fully recover and he could potentially miss the start of the 2013-14 regular season. And don't forget about Carmelo Anthony, who is still dealing with the partially torn labrum in his left shoulder. Good thing they signed up Metta World Peace, huh?
