Do you know who isn't having the best year in baseball right now? The Miami Marlins. But seriously though, it hasn't been the best of times for the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez. He's been catching a lot of hate from fans while he's rehabing his hip, got publicly flamed by general manager Brian Cashman, and got further flack for missing a rehab game on Friday.
There's also that big performance-enhancing drug case hanging over his head. The MLB might have enough evidence to connect Rodriguez to Biogenesis—a Miami clinic accused of distributing PEDs to stars like Rodriguez. The case runs so deep that it is possible that Rodriguez can get a lifetime ban from the league, which would be a huge setback to his comeback hopes.
On the other hand, Rodriguez's lawyers and the MLB are negotiating a 150-game plea deal. According to the Daily News, a "clearly shaken" Rodriguez discussed the offer with MLB officials on Friday, while a spokeperson on Saturday said nobody from the shortstop's camp said anything about a 150-game deal.
No word if he'll do the reasonable thing and retire though.
