The odds were pretty much stacked against David Ferrer as he headed to toward his faceoff against Rafael Nadal in the French Open final. Nadal had beaten Ferrer in 19 of their last 23 matches, and of couse, Ferrer was going into battle against the King of Clay.
Ferrer didn't lose a single set in this year's French Open, but he'd lose all three against Nadal as he took the sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to win his eight French Open.
The win came after a few delays though. It looked like Nadal's concentration broke after a random person ran on court carrying a flaming flare as he was winning the second set 5-1. Ferrer took the next point, but Nadal bounced back to take the set.
There was a short rain delay on the final set, but Nadal came out on top despite his opponent's valiant effort.
Nadal's winning streak on clay extends to 82 while his French Open record improves to 59-1.
