There's still a huge question mark surrounding Aaron Hernandez's alleged involvement in the 2012 double murder. That's still being investigated, but the crime Hernandez is charged with—the murder of Odin Lloyd—elevated from trust issues, according to police.
A police source told TMZ that Hernandez thought Lloyd was going to reveal secrets regarding his prior violent incidents and drug involvement. Lloyd "mouthed off" to Hernandez about the secrets, enraging him. The authorities don't believe Lloyd tried to extort the former tight end, but Hernandez feared the secrets had the potential to ruin his relationship with the Patriots and his fiancée.
The obvious irony is that Hernandez's alleged actions ended up doing more damage than the potential revelations.
