The Patriots Are Offering Free Exchanges on Aaron Hernandez Jerseys

They want absolutely nothing to do with him.

The Patriots are preparing to make another run at the Super Bowl, trying to meld Tim Tebow into their offense, and maybe getting that damn ring back from Vladimir Putin (which may be harder to do than actually winning one). But first things first; they're trying to wipe their hands clean of everything and anything to do with Aaron Hernandez.

New England released the tight end and the team's Pro Shop cleared "Aaron Hernandez" from its web site not too long after he was arrested. Now, the Pro Shop is offering to take any Hernandez Patriots jersey in exchange for another Patriots jersey...for free!

The organization's spokesperson said, “We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore. We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player’s jersey will be well received by parents.”

Fair enough reason. It's also worth noting that this level of organizational cleansing has been seen before. The WWE wiped its web site of all mentions of Chris Benoit after his double murder-suicide.

The free exchanges will take place July 6-7.
