35. Paul Pierce (2008)
Team: Boston Celtics
Opponent: Los Angeles Lakers
Result: Celtics over Lakers, 4-2
Finals stats: 21.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 6.3 APG, 1.2 SPG
The Celtics' return to the basketball mountaintop was fueled by the consistency of their captain, who played an outstanding overall series as Boston took the title in six games. With so many stars on the roster, Pierce needed to be efficient with his shooting if they wanted to win; he certainly was that, shooting an even 50 percent from the floor in the Celtics' four wins compared with 33 percent in their two losses.
His Game 1 performance after injuring his knee and overdramatically being taken to the locker room in a wheelchair set the tone for the series, as upon returning to the floor Pierce drilled two three-pointers and inspired the Celtics to victory.
