Every dynasty has to begin somewhere, and for the Bulls that was in the 1991 Finals against the aging Los Angeles Lakers. This series marked a significant changing of the guard in the NBA, as Michael Jordan grossly outplayed Magic Johnson and effectively seized the reins as the league's signature player. The Bulls absolutely pummeled the Lakers, narrowly losing Game 1 before winning each of the next four in convincing fashion.
Jordan served as both scorer and distributor for his Bulls team, leading them in both points and assists per game for the series while also finishing third in rebounding. In capturing his first title, Jordan joined George Mikan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players ever to win the league scoring title and the Finals MVP award in the same season.
