Smart move?

Imagine for a second that you were an NBA general manager, OK? And let's say you needed to make a decision on whether or not to keep your current head coach. Here's the breakdown. In the shortened 2011-12 regular season, this guy led your team to a 41-25 but they lost in the first round. Then, the following season, he led the team to a 56-26 record (the best finish in franchise history) and a first ever appearance in the Western Conference Finals. Would you keep this coach?

If your answer is "absolutely," then you and the Memphis Grizzlies organization aren't on the same page. Today, the Grizzlies decided to not offer Lionel Hollins a contract extension. Citing "philosophical differences," Memphis let Hollins go and will now go on the search for a new head coach. According to ESPN, assistant coach Dave Joerger looks like a strong candidate, but the team will also look at names, like George Karl and former Suns coach Alvin Gentry.
