It looked like the Browns' 2013 season could've at least gotten to a decent start since they are facing off against the perpetually struggling Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams. Cleveland isn't that well off as a franchise either and its latest setback involves Josh Gordon and codeine.

Gordon has been suspended for the first two games of the season for taking the banned substance while recovering from strep throat in February. He led the team in receiving yards (805) and touchdowns (five) last season.

It's worth mentioning that Gordon hasn't exactly had the greatest track record when it comes to drug policies. He was kicked off Baylor's team for getting suspended twice for using marijuana, and didn't even get to play when he transferred to Utah because he failed another drug test.

Head coach Rob Chudzinsk said he's sure Gordon's teammates will step up in his absence, but they didn't exactly do so when a key player, cornerback Joe Haden, got suspended last year. The Browns lost all of the four games Haden was suspended for when he violated the NFL's substance abuse policy.

At the same time, the Browns haven't exactly stepped up in multiple other occasions either. Have you seen their last few season records?
