And Simmons wasn't pleased with the comments at all.

In what was the most memorable moment in last night's snooze fest of an NBA Draft (except for that afro), Bill Simmons called out Doc Rivers on live television after the former Celtics head coach implicitly called him an idiot. Specifically, Simmons said, "The truth keeps changing…When he sticks to a story, I’ll believe the truth. Just admit what you did. The writing is on the wall, the Celtics wanted to rebuild, you wanted to go to the Clippers, and it happened. Just own [up] to what you did."

Since then, Rivers' son Jeremiah angrily responded to Simmons comments on Twitter. Now, WEEI—New England's regional sports network—quoted Doc saying that Simmons actually pushed for him to be fired from the Celtics.

Doc on @WEEI about @BillSimmons: "He did everything he could to get me fired. Wrote letters, wanted to sit down w/ owners to talk about it."

The comments are said around the 7:45 mark in the linked audio clip below.

Well, Simmons did harshly call out Doc in a 2006 column for ESPN. But did he really go that far to get him fired? We didn't have to wait long for the answer.

The quote I just retweeted is an outright, 100 percent lie. I'd be careful, Glenn. Seriously. Stop talking. You are making sh*t up.

Not "Doc." "Glenn," Rivers' real first name. Simmons has been a lifelong Celtics fan, so the tension runs deep. How will the two professionals settle the beef?
