Dirk Nowitzki would really, really like to play alongside Dwight Howard next season. So earlier this week, he did the same thing that James Harden and Chandler Parsons reportedly did recently—he called Howard to try and convince him to become a Maverick next season. Nowitzki didn't go into too much detail when he talked about making the call last night. But he did admit that the two talked and that Nowitzki got his point across.

"I reached out to him and told him we'd love to have him," Nowitzki said. "That's really about it. It's not like we call each other every day."

Uh, okay, good. That would be weird. But maybe Nowitzki should call him a little bit more frequently. Or at least send the guy a text every morning. Because as Nowitzki freely admits, signing Howard next month is going to be a tall task for Dallas.

"We'd love to have him," he said, "but so would the other teams with cap room, which is a couple. We'll just wait and see what happens."

Yes, we will, Dirk. Now go call, text, and tweet your boy. Buy a billboard, too. There's no such thing as "too much recruiting."
